QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Part 2
From: Larson 98371
I'm glad to see that you're now
carrying the programs for the two
Commodore publications (PowerPlay and
Microcomputers). I don't have the
time to type in all the programs I'd
like, but here they are already typed
in for me. Thank you!! My question is
this: Will you continue carrying the
programs from PowerPlay and
Microcomputers?
>Yes! We plan to continue providing
>you with the programs from both
>magazines, already typed in and ready
>to run.
It's strange...yesterday I tried to
load paperless pages on two of my
disks and they would not load. Today
they loaded fine! I ran one of the
programs and afterward it gave me an
error when it tried to LOAD HELLO.
I checked to see if hello was on that
side and it was. Later I ran the same
program and it LOADed HELLO fine. I
had made a backup copy of disk #11 and
it had worked fine. Now it won't LOAD
STAR, so I LOAD HELLO, but then I
don't get that nice background music
with Paperless Pages. I tried to make
another copy, but I couldn't seem to
get it working. It is not easy for me
to make a backup copy of LOADSTAR. I
can't use a regular copier. I have to
use a special copier that is intended
to copy protected disks. I know that
LOADSTAR is not protected but it is
meant for a double sided disk drive
and I have a single sided disk drive
so I figure that's why a regular
copier won't work. What could be
wrong? Had I been using my computer
too long and it needed a rest or
needed to cool down?
>This is indeed a very confusing
>problem. As you stated, LOADSTAR has
>absolutely no copy-protection. What
>you have described sounds like a case
>of a mis-aligned disk drive. Try
>taking your drives in for alignment
>and then see if the problem persists.
>Plus, since you brought up the
>subject of overheating, it might be
>wise to invest in a small fan to cool
>your drives.

I have been unable to enter certain
lines in some of the programs. Why?
The programs work fine when I enter
the line without the Magazine Entry
program.
>If you're trying to type in programs
>from PowerPlay or Microcomputers, you
>must include the apostrophe and the
>last four characters on each line if
>you are using the Magazine Entry
>program. The last four characters
>are a checksum for the program line.
>The computer checks this against the
>program line you typed in with a type
>of code. If the line is not correct,
>then you should get an error message.
Budget-Master, as listed in Commodore
MicroComputers shows Lt. Blue in print
statements. I cannot find a key on my
Commodore 64 to print Lt. Blue. Help!
>To get light blue, you must press the
>Commodore key (lower left corner of
>the keyboard) and the seven key.
